The idiot box does not feature too highly in our household, but today at 9am, Analogue tv was switched off in Melbourne. This was the last location around Australia that analogue tv broadcast services existed, and marked the end of the program to convert Australia to digital tv.
I made a couple of videos of the event,
HSV7 (channel 7) ran a small promo to mark the occasion and this is the last 30 seconds.
And I had set up the Spectrum Analyser to show the carriers for CH7, 9 and 10 dropping off. You can see the spikes drop off at 9am, the wide band digital carriers are visible between the analogue channels. By analogue TV, now hopefully the ACMA changes the regulations and we get higher power and better access to the 6m (50MHz) Ham band.
